Definitely the second one. The blue at the first one is very chilly and it would have been a good think if the your product was ice-cream or sth. frosty.
However, if you change the tonality of the blue, then possibly the first one would also be a good match. Now I like the bottom one.
I prefer the second one because it's darker but you can always go for a css based template and have several links to each css - which changes the whole appearence.
Use something like: setActiveStyleSheet('whatever') if you want to do this
the second one may be better at this point but I feel the first one has more potential, try to change the blue you have used to other blue shades (darker or lighter) also the left menu in both of them is too small
I think this type of decisionr eally depends on color preference. I think both look equally as nice! It's been a year and you haven't implemented them? Hehe.
I actually like the one that you're redesigning (the current one). The new ones seem way to 'graphic' or 'cool' as you'd put it for a marching band site. It doesn't seem to fit at all.
the top has excellent colors, however it does not stand out as well as the second. I think the second one is easier to read due to the white font on brown. Black on blue takes a couple extra seconds to read through the subtext.
Both are very well done -- nice work! I like the second one personally, as I feel the colors stand out more and are a bit different... So many web sites use blue, It's nice to see a change.
I like the bottom one. The first one is nice, but for some reason I feel like I see those colors often. On the second one however, I don't see brown used a whole lot. The second on to me also looks softer and is easier on the eyes.
