I recently designed a discussion site that allows people to post their opinions and have them seen by other visitors... The site can be viewed at http://web-master.tv/inquit.html (will be inquit.net within 24 hours) and I would like honest feedback on the site. It is designed to be very simple looking and fast loading.

    Thanks,

First of all, I love the nice simple design on the front page. I think that you could come up with a better tagline than "Connecting your world" though. Take off the period at the end of the tagline, too.

You might want to make the text a tiny bit bigger. On your answer page, the first two textboxes are WAY too small. About five pixels tall for me.

    Hi

    And welcome back!!

    Looks good. Clean.

So a bit of a look at the code.

Near the end of the sheet, the following may need some work. This is a part of theCounter code. Might want to check with them as well. (If I am wrong, let me know, I have encountered this before and I do not want to harp on something that is perfectly ok. But my source alarms at this code.)

    <img src="http://c2.thecounter.com/id=1496118" alt="theCounter.com" border="0" /
    width="1" height="1" />

The last / need to be removed.

    ----------------

    I like it!

    Thanks for sharing.

    peace

Thanks for the reviews, keep them coming! edshuck, I'm glad you like the site -- you should submit an Inquit opinion yourself TheCounter.com's code must be messed up right now, I will modify it right now and contact them. Also, does the form seem strange and "too small" in your browser also?

Actually, the last / is going to be required in future versions of HTML. HTML will need to be parsed as an XML document and in XML, tags without data inside them must be ended like />. You could also do <img ...></img> but that would be rather pointless.

    It's a bit plain.

I think you should make the page width a bit wider, at least 700 pixels wide.

    Good luck

I love the simplicity of the design, but I have some aesthetic issues I would like to bring up. Remember, these are MY opinions, you may choose to ignore them; I'm just giving you these for what I would personally do to improve this layout.

Currently, the site is one big "white." Perhaps you can create about 3 columns with the center being white( and containing the text) while the surrounding ones could be a different color (darker, perhaps?). If you did this, you would also want to surround the white area with a 1px column of black (a black line, perhaps).

It would give more diversity to the site without taking away from the clean design or messing up the load time (at most, 1 additional KB).

    Just a thought

    Nice minimalist layout
but like honging mentioned its just a big white lol
maybe you could add a color sidebar?or have a background?
also the page is too short, hmmmm im not sure what you could add, but a little more content?i know thats pretty vague.
also the site could use a couple more Differnet graphics.
but other than that everything seems in perfect order, and even looks good in Opera(which is good heeh).
    Good work.

I like the clean look very much. I myself have started to adopt a move toward more minimalist Web page design. I think the advent of the major portals has left many Web users seeking outlets away from the clutter.

    Here are my thoughts:

    - The "Connecting your world." tagline didn't do anything for me. I don't quite understand how it relates to your site.

    - The text box is far too small on the entry screen. Also, you might want to let the user know how many characters can be entered into the field.

    - I'm not sure why the entry page for each of the four questions is the same--unless that's just for now. Once I clicked, I had no idea which of the questions I was responding to.

    - I'd think the "featured" post should be more prominently featured. Perhaps above the new questions, in a larger font and different color.

I liked your site. The design is clean, neat and no dead links. The featuring question was a great idea, because people actually want to participate, not just place their answers and that's all. Also, you don't get all the responsability to find new interesting questions for your site all the time. By the way, great questions... that's all.

    Good luck,
    Carolina

The site is really clean and straight to the point. After completeing an answer though I was redirected to a page that had H5 type and nothing else. I like the way UBB handles the 'thanks for posting' page.

    Basically,
    Logo
    Explanation (w/ auto-redirect)
    Option quick links

Other than that it's a good looking page.

Your post, about the sky being blue, was reviewed by our editor and may be featured in an upcoming update. I will look into making our "thanks for posting" page a little more exciting. We wanted it to load quickly though. Thanks for the review.

Personally, as a reader, I would like to see some separation of the "responses."

i.e. all of the "Why is the sky blue" replies together.
