Okay im sure there is any easy solution to this one!..

I have computer (a) and computer (b)...i need to get around 1gb of data off computer (a) and put it on computer (b). Both systems are running under windows. In the past i have just used an old hdd i have as a removable disk (it isnt) but there must be an easier way.

I have a suspician that you can use a serial port to serail port link, can you?

Can anyone give me any advice on this?! :-)

    Thanks

There are many many ways you can transfer data.

Move one HD from a computer to another
This is the fastest way the computer can transfer data, although a lot of people don't like it. I do it all the time.

    Use a LAN
You can connect two computers together if they have two ethernet cards and can be connected. It's easy to set up, but slow to transfer

    Use a parrallel cable
Very slow, but very easy to set up. Under Windows, you can use the "Direct Cable Connection" to set up a host and guest computer.

Upload to a web server and download
Not practical for what you want to do, but it could be done.

There are several other solutions, such as networking using your power lines.

I think you could use a serial port to serial port connection, but that would be extremely slow (prepare to wait a few hours for a gb). Parrallel to parrallel would be better, although ethernet is best.

    Glad to help

By the way, in case you don't have bi-directional parrallel cable, it's very cheap (less than $10).
