I am looking to build a new website, most likely a community website. I need some ideas though on what it should be about. Any help is appreciated.

I woul like to make a community site w/ forums, chat, etc. I would like to do this, HOWEVER, I would like to know what I should target it to. For example, webmasters, or movie buffs. I would just like some ideas.

You'll have the most success if you target it at something that you have a real interest in. What are your interests?

If it is going to be a forum, the success will depend upon how active you are. My forum just tipped 9,300 posts, and it has only been up since mid-September; but I spend a lot of time there. 1,600 of the posts are mine.

It's interesting, we have less members than most of the new forums I know, but our members are much more active. I think that is because I spend a lot of time there responding to their posts and making them understand how much I value their participation.

So, again, what are your interests?

    Bummish,

Perhaps you would want to cater to someone's needs that haven't been filled? Think of things that you HAVEN'T seen message boards for. Build the site around something that can fill a niche and be useful to the community members.

It also cuts down on the competition.
