    Ok guys:

I have a Hewlett Packard. Its great, but that's not what I am concerned about.

I recently installed Windows ME, instead of using the Restore Disc. As a result of that, my sound card is not working as there are no drivers for it.

I went ahead to Conexant.com (the people who make it), but they do not offer drivers, only the actual chipsets.

Now the question is, where can I get some drivers? I am looking for my old computer, so I can take out the sound card...but I can not find it.

    Argh!

Do the generic sound blaster drivers work?
If not, I think your best bet would be to either search on the web or on a service like http://www.driverguide.com/

Also, I expect it would be possible to extract the drivers from the restore CD, if you got desparate

    I don't know. I'll try. I mean, I got nothing to loose.

    Yes, I'll search there.

Ok, I'm desperate, how DO I get the drivers off the restore CD?

I am pretty sure you can't get drivers off the CD. All restore discs that I have seen have everything in an inaccessible compressed format.

    Run a search at http://www.windrivers.com/

Have you tried standard Sound Blaster 16 drivers? Often, they will work with a card. They might not use the full capabilities of the chipset/card but at least it works

Found the old computer, put that one in and it works great...better than the original.

Its cranking now. Thank god for $1000 studio monitors.

Try clicking on the driver tab in device manager and update it with Windows update. Strangely enough, I went to verify this method and it found an updated driver for my card .
