C|Net today announced that it was going to dissolve it's GameCenter Alliance at the end of the month leaving large (and popular) gaming Networks like Stomped.com, GamersDepot, Counter-Strike.net and Unreal Universe and many more in the cold.

I was shocked when I first read about the break down of the alliance.

If you were to ask me which types of ad network would have the best chance of succeeding in this market, I would suggest niche networks such as the Alliance, UGO, IGN, BannerWomen, etc. And one that has the backing of a media favorite, such as CNET, can attract premium rates too.

I'm sure that the sites represented by the Alliance will survive, but I feel for them having to scout around for representation at a time like this, when most of the top agencies are already flooded.
