    arrggggg, this couldn't be more annoying!!

    for future reference don't you think it would help someone who had the same problem as you to leave it posted so they could read about the solution you found?????

    Sorry, I tried to delete the post fully but it wouldn't let me and I didn't want somebody wasting their time telling me the answer because I'd already solved it.

    For your benefit though (community spirited as I am) the problem was solved by making the header elements absolutely positioned, rather than the default) and leaving the content area with no positioning properties (the default), so the broswer just sticks the content in the next available space, which in this case was right below the header.

    Again, apologies for deleting the post but I did it so as not to waste people's time. I am sorry if I have upset you.
