    opening new tab with js...?

I heard elsewhere that this may not be possible; still, I thought I'd check.

I'd like to be able to open a new webpage in a new *tab* if the browser allows for it, otherwise, just a new window.

    Possible?

[ I recently discovered Mozilla - and I must admit, the tab browsing is brilliant! ]

On windows, if you hold the ctrl key while clicking a link, you get a new tab. So, I thought maybe that could be simulated by setting the event.ctrlKey to true, but it turns out to be a read-only property.

window.open doesn't seem to take a 'open in new tab' arg.

I'm guessing, no, this isn't presently possible.

Even though you feel tabbed browsing is cool, realistically, whether the user wants a new tab or a new window should really be the user's decision.

Sorry, but tabbed browsing is a user-defined parameter which can be enabled from within the Mozilla browser (Edit>Preferences>Navigation). It has nothing to do with a method which can be called from within your javascript.
