    Hi guys,
I just wanted to let you know that in Netscape (I'm using 4.75 when testing this) the font is HUGE... It works fine in IE but in Netscape... you should definitely have a look at it!

The most widely used font is size=3. This is the default font size used in HTML.

Now I do realize IE shows fonts at a smaller point size by default but I just loaded the site in Netscape 4.7 and don't seem to see a problem with it except Netscape disregards the table formatting to a small extent.

I just opened up Netscape 4.7 to see if I had this problem, as it seems that I do. I took a screen shot: http://www.chesco.com/~kidjustino/spf.jpg

I fired up good ol' NS 4.76, and indeed, the letters are huge!

    The source:

    <FONT face="verdana,arial,helvetica" size="1" >

    -----------------------

I'd recommend using Arial as the standard font, since Verdana seems to give problems.

Yikes, huge is the word for the text in Netscape.

Wayne, have you changed the default font size in your copy of Netscape? As that would explain why you wouldn't notice the problem.

I don't think so. I don't use Netscape on a regular basis and can't remember. I would check but all it has is "Increase" and "Decrease" but no default.

I don't understand why this is suddenly a problem though, the same fonts have been used in the Forums since we have been using vBulletin. I have not changed a single one of the font tags in the system. I would change it all to CSS, but since the layout is complex tables, Netscape would have a problem rendering that as well.

I am seeing a huge font size on NS 4.76. I have to reduce the font size when I come here. MSIE looks fine.

This reply window is scrolling way to the right also. What changed?

The only thing that has changed is that I have started moving the font information to the CSS included with the forums. This is in preparation for simplifying the HTML and making it XHTML compliant.

I will look into it further throughout the day.

Ahhh, therein lies the problem, Netscape pretty much ignores font information in CSS - it does for me anyway.

Yeah but I hadn't removed it from the thousands of font tags used in every page yet either.

I reverted back to the previous CSS information so let me know if it still happens.

That is what I get for trying to remove bloated code and trying to make things download faster.

You're lucky. If this had happened at my work, my response would have been to call desktop support so they could upgrade/fix your computer to use Internet Explorer.

And yes, I have said that to people before, but since they were violating company policy they couldn't complain.
