Personally, I like Justin's, Wes's second smiley, and Federico's second smiley all the same amount. If I had to choose one of them, I'd choose Justin's.
Sparkie's is very cool but I don't see how it could be used in a post.

Yeah Justin's is good, although I quite like ifroggy's second entry. But I don't see how it could be included in a post. They're all very good - the standard of entries is very high. Well done to all who entered.

Well, I think adam's is pretty incredible. I'd say give him some money and some free stuff as well.
no, seriously, I think Ifroggy's second one, and wes demoney's 7th are my faves.
Adam

I think Justins and Federicos 3rd and 4th ones are the best of the bunch.
CJs second one isn't bad either.

Thanks guys. They're are quite a few good ones. But, what was wrong with Justin's eyes... are they like bloodshot... looks like me in the morning. LOL![]()

Yeah, thanks to everyone for their opinions so far. Actually mine is called Computer Eyes because that's what happens to your eyes if you stare at a computer screen too long.

Gotta go with Federico's third...
VERY close behind are iFroggy's second and Zellan's

When will the winner be announced? I'm getting nervous here![]()

iFroggy's second... exactly which one is that? I submitted the grey one second... but the monitor guy is listed 2nd out of my two entries on the entry page. Which one are you guys referring to?

I have a question... does this mean I can't use my smilie on my site? Or is it technically not my smilie anymore? Its no big deal, but I was just curious.Originally from Smilie Contest Page

It means that when you submitted your smilie to SitePoint, it became the property of SitePoint Pty. Ltd., so yes, if you wanted to use it for your own purposes (your own forum, your own site/blog, etc.) then you'd have to ask us to use it.

I like Wes Demoney's second, iFroggy's second, and Federico Carnales' second smilie.
My favorite is ifroggy's entry.
I love the smiling screen.![]()
I like ifroggy's 2nd one.
I also like Wes Demony's one with the devil horns and the halo on it.

eeerrrmm.... When you look at the page with the rules and where the you could put your smilies, there was no link to a contest site and there was no such notice. Maybe a lawyer can take a look at this but I don't think you can put us in that position if we never agreed to those terms.Originally posted by BC

If so I'd like to withdraw my smilies from this contest right now, if that's possible. I was planning to contribute these smilies to the rest of the internet. Thank you.

I understand SP's plight here, but that's still a real shame. Is it really necessary that they be restricted to SitePoint only? After all, most smilies you'll find on SP are open to all forums and created by some independent designer.
I'm not trying to stir up trouble, just asking.
All it said is you would have to ask.
I would have given all entrants permission to use their own works. However do to the fact that many people seem to think that what ever SitePoint puts online is public domain and tries to steal it you can see where the need to clearly state copyright and related rights come in.
When I started the contests, I wanted to keep them informal and fun without the need for a lot of legalese and rules. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case.
So in order to do things right, I will announce the winner of this contest tomorrow and all future contests are on hold until Official Rules can be drafted.

Wayne,
I didn't mean to start anything. This may hurt my chances to win or whatever, but I don't really care. You say you were trying to run a contest without legalese. Well, thats all well and good, but don't you think it might be courteous to mention to us that the rights to the all smilie's will be taken? You don't find that the list bit important to the person who created the smilie?
I leave my smilie entered, but I understand why CJ took his out.

Yeah, CJ enlightened me to this fact, and to say the least I was pretty disappointed. I think only the winning entry should become property of SitePoint, not ALL of the entries. That's what I think, and I tip my hat to CJ for letting us know if this.
Like I have said in the past, I started the contests for fun and enlightment. The contest prizes up until this point have not been provided by SitePoint but have come out of my own pocket.
I am sorry this has come to this over a few pixels of screen space. I feel that I have let you down and I am seriously considering my future involvement in the forums here. There are a lot more things that I can do with my time (30-40 hours a week) and money.
Also I wasn't going to mention this until I announced the winner tomorrow but I was going to add all the smilies onto the smilie page with full promotional credit and links for their creators. Unfortunately you are all too scared of what the "Big Bad Corporation" might do to you which in this case is nothing. All the simple statement said, you must ask. Same goes for everything on the SitePoint Network or any other site on the Internet.

I hope you're not considering leaving - I don't think any one of us would wish for you to leave...ever! Please understand that our comments here are almost always in the form of constructive criticism, and not a comment on your skills or how we think of you.
You've done a killer job, but we're bound to disagree with some things. I personally hope you never leave. Please do not be offended by anything I (or probably everyone else) have said here - that was not my intent.
