The site is pretty much completely ready, meaning you can judge me on the content as well as the design, navigation, and any code issues. There are some alt="" tags missing which I forgot to code in the first time, but I will be putting those in the next update.

    The URL is: http://antiques.neopages.com/

Please give me any feedback on everything at all!!

(BTW: The only section missing, I believe, is the SiteMap)

One thing only: on the upper rightside of the page, you've those tabs (main, dealers, about). The letters on the non-active tabs have such a faint color that you don't suspect that you can click on them.

This is an extremely well designed site, and it loads quite fast as well.

Very nice site. The colours work well together and I especially like the images you have used next to each heading View Categories etc they are simple but eye catching and eye pleasing. One other thing though the tabs at the top right hand side I think need to change or something to make it obvious they are links.

    Hi

Thanks for sharing. It is absolutely beautiful.

My recommendations for all pages would be to use the alt=, and the accesskey= where appropriate on the img items on your pages.

the color thing in the upper right hand corner

keeping that thought do something about the distinction of text and bg around "antique marketplace" in the header.

the only link that did not work was the site map.

    wonderful work!!!!

    peace

    Excellent Job!

I can't find, or see any problems except for the ALT tags, which you say that you'll fix that problem in the next update.

I like the colors, and the top and bottom graphics. The "View Categories" , "View Showcase" and etc buttons look really cool, I like how you make them so the text can "go in it". Very cool...

PS: I also like the font used in the logo...

I like this site. Tan/Brown's aren't colors i see used often, but you did a nice job of using them.

I like the amount of the browns and the whites, you managed that really well.

I was expecting some mouseovers, your site loaded fast on a 28.8 connection, so is there a reason you didnt want any? Maybe try adding some and it will make your site lively.

The inner pages are also laid out very nice..

    Good Job.

Thanks so much for the help...

To address why I didn't have any rollovers:

I didn't want to slow the site down. The nature of the site demands it be loaded quickly; I didn't feel the need to throw in extra KB worth of stuff when it worked well as it was

Let's refer to that post about minimalism...

As an antiques collector, I think it's absolutely beautiful. The tan color scheme is perfect -- it's neutral enough to not clash with any photos of antiques. It's very elegant looking. The only thing that might cause some confusion is the alternating colored links on the categories page. Some might think that they're pages they have already visited.

Great job! I can't wait to see it filled up with dealers and photos!

I like the site very much. Here are some suggestions:

    - On the front page, link the four icons (magnifying glass, tag, etc). The first thing I did was click on them, rather than the text links that are associated with them.

    - I'd put a little more space around the text within the graphical borders. I felt a little "cramped" reading the text so close to the graphics. The search page, in particular, illustrates that point.

    - Link the icons on the internal pages as well. Again, when I clicked on a page and saw an icon, my first inclination was to click on them rather than the text.

Good luck with it, I think you're on the right track!

Hello. You have got a great design! I'm not really in love with those colours you chose, but I guess you must like them if you chose them, so I'll just shut up
I just noticed one thing, wich was that when I got to your start page, I automatically tried to click on the images (The ones with the text and the ones with a circle arround them) to access the sections of your site (View Categories, View Shops, etc..). You might want to put link on them...

wow, some neat page you've made there.

i agree with all the replies from above and would like to add the following:

    http://antiques.neopages.com/about/contact.php
i think the text gets to cramped to the left and because youve set the table to a fixed size everyone is going to get all that white space to the right.

i would also think that it also applies to http://antiques.neopages.com/search.php. actually, becuase most of the pages are centered (apart from the text!) it makes these to pages look odd and emptier.

    keep it up though

Delightful site! I will definitely be a repeat visitor.

The only thing I would suggest has already been commented on....the icons and bold headings scream 'button links' and they aren't.

The immediate inclination for busy visitors is to click first...read when you get there, Instead you have to look close to find the link. (the soft color doesn't stand out)

Overall this site is an example of 'maximized simplicity' - in coloration, layout and navigation.

On a side note, I like to also accommodate users of older, low resolution systems by scaling things to eliminate the horizontal scroll bar that will inevitably appear.

    Nice work

Thanks for all the comments; I've spent about 2 hours making changes to the site (http://antiques.neopages.com). (It would of actually taken a lot less time if one of the important GUIDES hadn't shifted a pixel and boggled my mind as to why the images why aren't aligning )

Ok, here are the changes I made:

    - ALT tabs on all images
    - Linked the "big" images
    - The tabs have underlines now (underlines seems synonymous with links)
    - optimized a lot of images (I cut down about 3 KB on the main site... yeah!)
    - made the title "Antiques Network" a darker brown (more contrast)
    - blockquoted contact and search pages (to prevent the 'hugging' of the left side)

Here is what I haven't done:
    - Site map (sorry... been busy)
    - No Accesskey (how do these work? are they necessary? why?)
    - the site is currently viewable for 800x600 ... anything less will not show w/o a horizontal bar... i really don't want to figure out how to do that. besides, I think more people use 1280 than 600

Anyone have any more comments on how to make this site better? any comments on the changes i've made?

    My Computer:
    IE5, Win98
    1024x768
    56K

I like the design, very neat, clean and simple. Easy to navigate and fast loading.

The find by search link is not really matter as a link, I guess you can just put a search field in the front page. As for the join page, while most of member websites don't ask for address and phone number, I don't really want to give out mine, unless credit card required for verification.

That's it, by the way, the main tab has sub dealers for what? while there is also a tab dealers, a little confusion there.

This is end-user, not webmaster's view

This is a very clean and cool design and I really like it.

    My computer:
    450 MHz Pentium 2
    Windows 98
    1024x768
    56k

I really like the graphics and it loaded quick as well.

Well, this is a short review, but from me, if its short, that means I liked it and there wasn't anything I saw wrong.

Just one thing....It would be even better with the mouseovers...

I was just wondering where you came up with the idea for the funky shape of the page? I really like it.

The only thing that I saw out of place were the hover colors on list.php. They are blue and do not match the hover color for the rest of the site. Maybe a typo in the css code.

I think you did a great job. The website is useful, I mean in content as well as the navigation system and browser compatibility. Your graphics are professional looking and that gives trust to your visitors (I mean they don't think it is a site like others). That's it!

    Good luck,
    Carolina
