A friend has sent me some .wps files which I can't open with Word 2000. I assume they're wordperfect files, do I need converters or something and can I download them (as I don't have the Office disk handy)?

.wps is Microsoft Works actually.

Why not just ask your friend to send them in another format along with a little explanation. That way you won't have to deal with it next time. (I learned early on to never send anything in .wps. In fact, I hardly ever use it anymore.)
