wps files

A friend has sent me some .wps files which I can't open with Word 2000. I assume they're wordperfect files, do I need converters or something and can I download them (as I don't have the Office disk handy)?

.wps is Microsoft Works actually.

Why not just ask your friend to send them in another format along with a little explanation. That way you won't have to deal with it next time. (I learned early on to never send anything in .wps. In fact, I hardly ever use it anymore.)

Well...you should be able to read them if you use the Microsoft Works2Word Converter ...

I will but I want to put this stuff up on the web today and by the time they get back to me I'll be too busy with other things to do it!

Well then your friend did those file in a version prior to version 6....and that leaves you with two choices:

1. tell him to save them as .doc
2. ask him what version of works he used and get that version yourself

...but as you said you wanna do it right away...i guess there's nothing more we can do for you....
