    I have a simple question,
is MySQL a database, or is it a SQL to connect to a database.

If i wanted to setup a database on a server, would I have just MySQL and PHP or would it be: MySQL, PHP and MSAccess(or any other database).

Thanks in advance if anyone could clear this up for me.

MySQL is the actual server, which can be accessed easily by using the PHP built in functions (when compiled with mysql). MySQL provides a few extensions to SQL, and I think it is approaching full compatibility with SQL, or it may have reached it already.

No, you wont need another database such as MSAccess
