Actually You have only posted 23 posts since Midnight, 12-30-2000. I could show them to you.

My guess is that most of them have been in General Chat or another such forum....

For the Public Forums.. General Chat..
And all non-public forums which are used for discussing the community in general and creating new services.

Also I would like to make it understood that when you make a post, your post count updates on every single post by you throughout the forum system.

This is much different than in UBB where it writes static HTML files and you could actually see your post count increase.

Each page is generated dynamically and the user post count is retrieved from the database as this is done, so the most current count is used.

Yea thats rediculous that UBB didn't update all your post counts only the new post...unless you hit regenerate forum...?

Anyways so maybe its 23 not 50, yes I tend to exaggerate...

Here is my final test. I checked right before I posted this post and I have 983. I will check after I post this and see what I have...

    Edit:

    DOH! I now have 984...

Hmm...I could of sworn it didn't update after I made the first post in this thread. Oh well, maybe I am crazy.

Maybe the forums are getting overloaded and don't update properly sometimes.

If that were the case then your posts and new threads wouldn't even be created because the script would be breaking in the middle of it.

Ya know what I think? I think a lot of us have been here long enough that we're paying more attention to our post counts - and as such, we find ourselves counting and watching it a bit...which we're bound to screw up sometimes.

There are some times I could've sworn it didn't count up right, but I really don't know for sure.

Sorry to say, but something is definitely wrong with things now.

I am virtually 100% sure that I had 3,502 posts BEFORE I started a new thread in this forum - as of now, I still have 3,502 posts. I'm 90% sure that I had 3,502 posts a couple posts ago as well, but am not positive.

Could there be a bug in the count concerning starting new threads? Or could it be the need of updating vBulletin's counters?

As some of you know, I hate posting on the "my post isn't counting.. wait, yes it is... better try again, wow it counted again" posts.. but I should put my 2 cents in on this one since I think there may be a valid problem.

I should be at 238 (or 239 after this one), which - I know most don't care but I sometimes watch - would be enough to put me as one of the top 50 posters. However, after making new posts tonight my count remains at 237.

I'm wondering, are threads being deleted perhaps - or forums being pruned? I doubt thats the case, because I'd think i'd lose more than 1 post if that were happening, just a thought.

    can you check it out?

    thanks, I really appreciate it.

In this thread http://www.sitepointforums.com/showt...threadid=14147 KrazyDude has 1 post, but he's posted twice in the thread. And its in Web Hosting & Domain names, so all posts should be counted.

I've also seen some new members who posted once in a forum in which the posts are being count, but they had zero posts?!

I too have seen people with 0 posts. But maybe the counting system is wrong since computers DO start counting at 0.

Better yet... maybe its a new system that requires a minimum amount of text for a post to count. And wayne just doesn't tell us because he doesn't want us filling up posts with useless text?

    That'd be interesting.

No Nate (jumpthru): not being sarcastic...just, for the very first time, plainly looked at my post count, plainly posted, and plainly noticed that it was the same.

As for the minimum post length: I doubt it...the post that didn't up my count that prompted my recent reply here was two screens in length - a new thread...the one about what you think of everyone...so that idea is out the window.

New threads were not being counted which could account for it. Those who are more active and start more threads i.e. Jumpthru and TWTCommish would have noticed this behaviour. However this has been fixed and everyone's post counts are updated.

Wayne: is this a bug throughout vBulletin, or do you think it's due to the heavy customization of this particular forum?

Yikes, I've jumped up around 40 posts! Thanks for fixing the problem.

It was a bug in the implementation of how we excluded certain forums from being counted.

I recently added a switch to the forum setup (countposts) to determine if it should count a forum or not. This made it easier to modify without changing the actual code. However I wasn't initializing the variable properly in the newthread.php file.

This is one of the reasons why it escaped me. I rarely am able to start new threads in forums where it can count posts combined with the fact that I never really never worried about my post count made it hard to track down.

I always thought the users with 0 posts were like that because their only post(s) were in the General Chat forum, which doesn't affect post count...
