    Hi,

I'm a new PERL programmer, and I'm curious what freeware/shareware tools are good to use. Currently I'm using UltraEdit to write my scripts and the Perl5 debugger to debug them. Does a tool similar to Visual 6 C++ exist for Perl?

    Happy coding,

at http://www.activestate.com/Products/...Kit/index.html they have a trial download of the "Perl Dev Kit", which you may find useful
Only problem is that you will most likely be developing scripts locally, in which case, the server environment will not be perfectly synthesised.

Well there is PerlBuilder, but it is quite expensive. A free 30 day trial is available.

I have one word for it: awesome! It does just about everything: syntax, form parsing, interactive debugging, wizards, and so on.
