Anybody seen a jump in sales Christmas season?

Just wondering if anybody has seen a jump in sales for the christmas season yet?

This is my first christmas running an ecommerce site, what time frame do sales generally pick up?

I have seen a steady increase in my sales for the past two weeks, but I have also started to receive very good se rankings, so not sure what the traffic is more due to.

Well typically offline retail stores in the U.S. gear up for "Black Friday" which is the day after Thanksgiving for increased holiday sales. However lately with year-round sales and heavy discounting to draw people into the stores this has been extended until after Halloween.

I am sure online, that this would be pushed forward a couple of weeks as people try to account for shipping time. It would depend on your product line though. I don't see much of a increase in sales at Christmas time because my products are consumables used throughout the year. However, this year I am working to change that and bring in more gift related items for the holiday season. Won't really be in play until next year and I only expect modest increases this year but massive increases next year.

You should see a sharp increase beginning this weekend, if you have Xmas gift type merchandise.

If you play your cards right you can certainly increase sales for the holiday season but it takes a little work. Add a little x-mas theme to your site (maybe a few colors, different mascot or something minor to promote the holidays), throw in a chart or information about holiday shopping times, run a few banners with special holiday savings codes and add a promotion like free shipping or a free item or even free gift wrapping to your store. Several of my clients do just this and they all end up with a good jump in sales for Nov-Dec, especially in popular gift items. The trick is to remind your customers that your store can sell them what they already need to buy… gift!
