    Tableless design newbie

Ok...so i have been reading up on this designing with out tables and it seems really sweet...and a lot cleaner...but i have a question what do you do about people who have old browsers and cant view stylesheets? Also, if you know of any good books to read on the subject of CSS design i would love to hear from you....
    Thanks

You can make it so the page is still viewable in old browsers, it just doesnt have any of the styling applied to it. It will have default stuff, so in netscape 4, you have black text on a grey background, and blue links, etc.

    Old Browsers?

    Ignore them.

I know it sounds hard but the less than 1% of people who can't read stylesheets are going to get their pages served up as plain text - and can still read them.

You'll spend a load of time catering for a rapidly vanishing market - and get fed up. Rather spend time on getting the job done quicker and more elegantly and taking more time out from the PC, or getting the next job done quicker and better. And there is an argument that says that the more effort people spend on satisfying this end of the market the longer it will last. And if you do so you'll probably ignore the fastest growing market, the mobile computing people, that is in the UK showing a threefold annual increase.

And as for books, try this one - http://www.sitepoint.com/books/css1/
