Lightbulb Seeking Advice: Which path should we take in the very short term?

    Here is our situation.
We are not based in USA also our business is not incorporated in USA.
Therefore it is tough to get merchant account in hurry.
We are launching a subscription based web site targeted towards educational needs of kids in our country in age group 12-13.
The site needs to be launched on 20th Nov 2003 and all fun will be over by 27th Nov. Essentially site will operate for 5 days and then next year same day same time.
Site is ready but we do not have the ability to accept credit cards.

    We have two choices

    1. go for full merchant account/SSL certificate/and integration of payment gateway with our site.

    2. go for 3rd party payment merchant
We have identified the following as possible choices
    www.paysystems.com
    www.2checkout.com and
    www.ikobo.com

We feel time is too short to attempt choice #1.

We do not have any estimate of $ amount we will collect in 5 days. Subscription is priced at $9.99 . We are expecting at minimum 500 subscription ( at 1% conversion rate). It could go higher or lower. We are not trying to save too much on discount rates. What we want is something working else we will miss the boat.

We are seeking opinion if we choice 1 is still do able ?
Why we are seeking opinion when choice 2 seems to be safer bet ?

well when a prospect subscribes to our service he basically needs to get a login/password combination. 3rd party payment vendors can send email to consumer with login/password which is auto generated but none of them MIGHT be able to provide us with the same information in real time, so that we can unlock the user account with given login/password. They might be able to send the same email to us but that is not a reliable way of getting information. if user cannot access our site within 60 seconds of subscribing the cause is lost.

Please advice how we can go about achieving instant subscriber access
soon after payment is made to 3rd party merchant ?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I think you waited too long.

I agree... third party processors will probably be your only alternative.

2Checkout.com could handle what you're describing, but you'd need to signup this weekend.

    Interesting concept, good luck.

We have several merchants running instantaneous subscriptions based on our PIN code system. If anyone wants to take a look at the back end, go to mcc.paysystems.com LOGIN:3900 PASSW:demo.

    Cheers

In Our case Paypal is not an option as user has to register with paypal and then wait upto 30 days to get the special 4 digit code, which in case of international costomers (like ours ) arrives only when monthly bill arrives.

Let me know if things have changed recently. I am a registered paypal user ( consumer). I personally have made few purchases using my paypal account over past 3 years but to perform my 1st transaction using paypal I had to wait almost 20 days after registering with paypal.

    Thanks

2Checkout.com seems to be our best chance However Our 1st choice happens to be paysystems.com, but I heard they are too fussy signing up international customers.

Thanks for the demo link. Its good to have a feel of the system first hand. We had a look at the system, should work fine in our case, though the PIN generated is all numeric and to us it seems to be easy to guess.
Anyway at this time you are our best bet. We will make application to sign up with you as well as 2checkout.com and see if our application get through.

BTW even before posting the request for advice on forum, paysystems.com was our first choice. But then on reading reviews on various forum it seems they are reluctant to sign international customers.

Could you advice why you stated that we needed to signup this weekend ? Sure we will do that but just want to know if there is a minimum timeframe before account is activated ?
