Mine are defenitely still bad...if not worse...oh well....

My adsense earnings were plummeting this month, but then I did some mod/rewrite magic and its all good now.

Yeah...I have a couple of pages that have some dynamic URL's...but none that are on my major earning sites....I've tried moving some ads around and changing up the colors...but no luck...My adsense earnings were plummeting this month, but then I did some mod/rewrite magic and its all good now.

My click through rate reported by Google dropped to half since a few weeks ago. This month revenue is 60% of the previous month.
I read somewhere that Google is trying broadmatch, that is a way to match a broader range of ads with keywords that are not exactly the same that Google determined to be associated to each page, but rather can be related to those.
This could explain the decrease of click-through rates. If so, broadmatch was a bad idea and I hope Google drops it because we are all loosing money. I prefer to have the ads redirected to my defaults rather than trying to macth something broader that looks like it is not working.
I wonder what is the efficient way to pass these impressions to Google so they really listen and act upon these worse results.

Google will try to maximize revenue, period. This is good publishers too as it's the publishers that make google money. Remember AdSense is still very new and I expect Google will still be trying to find an effective balance between their profits and ours.

The problem is that this way they do not seem to be maximize neither their profits nor ours. My revenue dropped in to 60% of last month. I assume that their revenue with my site is proportional.Originally Posted by immotive
The only thing I think they get with broadmatch is filling more inventory that would be unsold otherwise. AFAIK, they are paid per click like they pay us. If the ads they place on my site lead to less clicks with broadmacth, it is a waste to implement it. That is not hard to tell by looking at my site ads that Google place. Now there are more Java/.Net banners than before when my site is dedicated exclusively to PHP.
From what I could gather from other partner sites, they have been affected similarly. So, I think this is just an experiment that Google is carrying and I hope they soon realize that it was not a good idea and at least get back to the previous rules.

Where did you hear about this broardmatch thing? I'm not doubting you, I'm just interested.
My Ads have remained very much on target.

I don't recall exactly, but I think it was in some Advertising newsletter. Anyway, if you though of asking Google as I just did, you would realize that it is explained in their Adwords FAQ.Originally Posted by Chromate222

Well...not necessarily...the reason your revenue is down could be b/c google is taking a bigger percentage of each click. The problem is that this way they do not seem to be maximize neither their profits nor ours. My revenue dropped in to 60% of last month. I assume that their revenue with my site is proportional.
I have noticed what appear to be non-targeted Ebay ads show up the AdSense banner on my site for what it is worth. Personally if Google were to make use of broadmatching to completely fill out the slots in my AdSense banners, I'd have to say this would be a good thing.Where did you hear about this broardmatch thing? I'm not doubting you, I'm just interested.
My Ads have remained very much on target.
I've only been using adsense for about half a month now. At the start the earnings per click was pretty low and steady, then about a week ago they jumped to more then double what I was making per click before that.
The my clickthru rate has stayed exactly the same, but my earnings per click has gone WAY up. Whatever google is doing I'm happy with it![]()
huh, good for u, mine one still WAY down.... may be some internal adjustment has been made in order to prevent ppl create sites targeting adsense ads![]()

immotive: The big hosting advertisers are not showing since three days. Hope they get back soon as the cost per click is now 1/3 of what I used to get.

wow i just checked my adsense and found a 40% drop in my revenue in the past two weeks...
My clickthru rate has increased recently, but my earnings per click are down alot.

I don't think so. The drop in revenue is aproximately the same as the drop in the average click-through rate.Originally Posted by RockNRollPig

Well my drop in revenue plumeted but my CTR stayed the same...so for me it appears google is just taking a bigger chunk of each click...Originally Posted by mlemos
same here. infact my clicks have gone up and earnings are down.Originally Posted by RockNRollPig

I keep getting plenty of clicks but really poor earnings, but it changes so damn much. For example yesterday with about the same clicks and impressions as today I made 5x as much as I made today (today's earnings were HORRIBLE)

Could Adsense also be tracking ROI now before assigning the rate to a particular click? I wouldn't be surprised if they did. Overture already has the means to tracking ROI. This would also be the smart thing to do for Google that is.
For those of you that have experienced clicks going up but revenue going down, it could be that advertisers are signing up/leaving- different advertisers pay different amounts. That way one ad might get a better CTR than another but still pay less. Maybe. With Google no one seems to know nowadays.
