    Hello Everybody,
I remembered using a Privacy Policy generator a long time ago, but can't remember the URL. Does anybody know of a site like this?

i remember using one on bcentral.com but i couldn't find it there so i did a little search and came up with these urls.
i'm using the first one right now and it seems to be pretty thorough.

    1- http://cs3-hq.oecd.org/scripts/pwv3/Login.asp
    2- http://www.the-dma.org/library/privacy/creating.shtml

oh guess what, i found the other one

    3- http://privacy.linkexchange.com/

if these don't work for you, just do a search on http://www.google.com for "privacy policy generator" and you'll be sure to come up with many more.

I think etrust.com has an online privicy policy generator too. Thats what I used for my site but just like anyother one you have to edit it a bit so that it will fit your site.

Sorry to bring this up to the top again, but I am looking to make a privacy policy for my site, and I didnt want to make a new thread.

One thing I wanted to know is what do you *have* to have on your site ?

I am about to set up an ecommerce site, using logins, so could anyone please advise me as to what policy I need !?

    thanks again for the URL's

    Regards,

    veedee

Wizards/generators should help you determine what exactly you need. You can follow a model statement, such as at http://etrust.com/webpublishers/pub_...statement.html

I know TRUSTe had a great generator a while ago, but I have been looking there for the last 10 or 15 minutes and I can't find it...

As Aidan said, if you answer all the questions that the policy generator asks correctly, then the policy should be suited for your site. Most will ask if you provide logins, custom services, public forums, etc. Just make sure the generator you use covers what is on your site and you should be fine.

I didn't know there were decent generators! A couple of months back I spent about 5 hours writing a privacy policy for my big new site (over 4000 words).

Surely with a generator you run the risk of it not suiting your site properly? I realise they ask a lot of questions but it still can't be perfect.
