Class-problems with Netscape

Hi,

I'm working toward making a new site NN6 compatible, CSS-wise, and I'm having some trouble, specifically with classes. NN6 seems to ignore classes for both input and span tags. My CSS seems to be valid, because when I include it as part of a style property, the elements are displayed correctly.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

The text formatting seems to be the same between Mozilla and NN6 as far as i can tell.
You are having some problems with the height of your boxes though. In NN6 the rounded corners in the bottom are a little misaligned. And the bottom bar gets rendered nearly twice the height specified. Looking at your html i didn't come up with any idea why though.

Hi guys,

The problem with NN6 is first and foremost with input fields (below the main graphic) which should have the same sttle as the search field. Also, the headings in the upper, right part of the site ("Bli vår partner!" and "Trenger du hjelp?") are not rendered with the correct size and color.

Netscape doesn't like your rounded corners in the background images but the inputs look much the same as Ie6.

You have some errors in your style sheet that may be causing some differences.

Yes, that's another problem I'm having.

And the bottom bar gets rendered nearly twice the height specified.

I've fixed that setting the font-size of the cells containing the bottom bar to 2pts.

Oh Well! at least it validates now

I still can't see any real difference between Ie6 and NN6.2 except for the corners as mentioned above (perhaps you are looking at a different NN to me anyway) . Perhaps you should try the offending styles in isolation on another page to make sure you're looking in the right place.

I can confirm the problem you describe. The input fields in the middle of your page for logging in don't get styled in NN6.01 where i test on. The input to the left where you have the style in the html is okay however.

But i have no idea if this behaviour might be a known bug, that NN6 is not applying the CSS styles for the input tag?

I can find a few CSS issues with input tags in bugzilla, but nothing that looks likely to cause these problems.

Eirik: what exact version of NN are you testing with? There were a lot of bug fixes between NN6.0 (Mozilla 0.6) NN6.1 (Mozilla 0.9.2) and NN6.2 (Mozilla 0.9.4)?

Eirik/Martin: As far as I can tell, Most users of recent Netscape versions are on 7.0x (mozilla 1.0) or 7.1 (mozilla 1.4)

In any case, NN users appear to be outnumbered by Mozilla users, most of whom are on versions after 1.0.

It might be worth changing your test platform to NN7/7.1 or Moz 1.0/1.4, rather than NN6.

Do you know of a site that can back up these numbers? I have of course checked out the browsers used by visitors to my site, but I would love to see some numbers world-wide, or even better, based on country or region.

Decent global stats are hard to come by. Stats that actually distinguish different gecko-based browsers are even rarer.

Interpreting all these stats is difficult at best, due to demographic effects and variable browser-detection code. I've written about some of the reasons why, here.

I'd put more weight on your own stats than any of these, since your stats are much more representative of your audience.
