Problems with clear
I'm working on a css layout for my site and am having problems with floated divs and the amount of space a clear creates underneath. If you look at the home page here - http://www.acquiweb.com/acquiweb/ - in Mozilla it renders correctly but in IE6 and Opera 7 there's more white space between the first and second paras. What's causing this?

I'm not sure if it is a bug in IE6/Opera 7 or Mozilla, however it would appear that since your menu is floated left when you put in your first clearing spacer it is moving the insertion point to below the menu rather than just below the previous paragraph.

Yeah I noticed after I made this post if I removed the menu, then the page rendered fine. I tried floating both divs and removing the margin-left value of the div containing the text. It fixes the IE problem but messes it up in Moz!

You could try absolutely positioning your menu
