    Unhappy simple CSS not working in opera/firebird?

    Hi all,

    I just took a look at my site in opera and firebird..how very very ugly..

    http://demo.getringtones.org

    as far as I know, im doing very simple CSS stuff - no fancy work. im a complete novice with it, so i guess im just doing something wrong somewhere.

    can someone take a look at the source, and let me know?

    thanks!

    It's the quotes in your css tags. Remove them and they should show up correctly (though you then get borders you don't get in IE.)

    in other words, you have css tags like this:
    Code:
    .menulink
    {
      font:"7.5pt Verdana";
      color:"#0000FF";
      font-weight: bold;
    }
    make them like this:
    Code:
    .menulink
    {
      font:7.5pt Verdana;
      color:#0000FF;
      font-weight: bold;
    }
    Just an fyi. You should really NOT use pts for your font sizes. Makes it in-accessible for those that can't read that small of font-sizes. Try % or ems instead.

    A little tip if I may .

    I find it much easier to design first in one of the newer browsers (I mostly use Firebird) and then later I add the tricks and hacks needed to make it render properly in the IE's.
