    Problem creating FSO object on client in Netscape

    I am trying to upload the file, before uploading am checking that the file exists or not using javascript:

    function FileExists(strFile){
    var fso = new ActiveXObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject");
    var blnReturn = fso.FileExists(strFile);
    fso = "";
    fso = null;
    return blnReturn;
    }

    This piece of code is working perfectly fine in IE but in Netscape it errors out on line where we are creating the FSO Object.

    Any help with this regard wil be greatly appreciated.

    That's because ActiveX is IE/Win only.

    Seems like overkill anyways. 999 out of 1000 people will browse to the file instead of pasting/typing the path, so it's bound to be there a vast majority of the time.

    Thank you for your input. Is there no way that we can create an object in Netscape on client side.

    ActiveX is a Windows-only technology. Your code only works in IE/Windows. It doesn't even work in IE/Mac.
