    Hi,
    Similar discussion!

Should I break a big table with MANY rows into smaller tables and depends on input, manipulate in that table (for eg: alphabetically)?

The tables contain exactly the same data (fields) only different in # of rows (split into smaller)

Will putting index columns help much? And what if the index columns are not very useful (like: not unique, many duplications)

    Post your opinions! Thanks,

indexing helps A LOT.. index columns which you use while querying, it will still help, if not a significant amount

as for splitting or not, time taken in mysql to read the database increases exponentially as size increases, so if your database is huge, multiple small ones would be more efficient, but if its small (< 10,000 records), you should be fine with single
