    Netscape 4Style Sheet

I need to make a style sheet that is use when a user is using netscape 4.79 to view my web page.

    1. How do I go about it
    2. How do I insert the external style sheet into my html so that the browser knows which style sheet to use.

I have the site running on a style sheet at the moment - but this does not work in netscape 4.79

    Thanks in advance

Are you using the link and @import two tier stylesheet method? That works pretty well...

and then you can avoid browser sniffing -- which is usually a headache anyway.

Yeah - I agree about the whole browser sniffing thing - I used the @import - it worked great for me!

Can you please explain how to do that "the link and @import two tier style sheet method"? Or can you point me to some websites that explaining that? I'm using php to find what browser visitor is using and point to the appropriate style sheet...

Sure, well here's a relatively good article on the technique:
    http://www.mako4css.com/csstwo.htm

So you basically build on whatever styles you define in the linked stylesheet, and the @import stylesheet becomes the modern browsers only stylesheet, which works out pretty well.
