iframe and alternatives

Hi,

I'm looking for a solution to the following problem:

A client's site has a few pages which display data from internal as well as external sources. The data is displayed in "modules", defined by table cells. If the external source is slow, it slows down the loading of the entire page. We're looking for a way to display the internal data immediately and wait for the external data, perhaps displaying a "loading..." message in the externally populated modules.

One of the things I'm looking into is iframe - I've never used this, so any tips would be appreciated. Is this the appropriate solution? Also, does anyone have any other ideas?

Yeah, i'd recommend the Iframe solution.

yah...for pulling in pages to view within your own page, i'd recommend iframes as well.

Nokx's code is good, and if you need to position the iframe then just put it in a DIV, or, the cell of a table... if you're into that sort of thing, lol
