    Question bbc site

    How does the bbc get their site to stay at the left in every resolution in all browsers?

    http://www.bbc.co.uk

    I want to force my site to the left and have the same white space on the right same as the bbc do.

    My site is http://www.redplanet.cwc.net but I don't like the way it looks in 1024. However in 800 I really like it.

    aeh...remove the
    Code:
    margin : 0 auto;
    from your body styles in ricky.css

    add a defined width to the content div
    Code:
    width: 750px;
    and if you're using div class="Content", your style definitions need to be .content, not #content. you'd use #content if you defined it as <div id="Content"> (which you should, as id is used for unique elements, whereas class is used to define rules that are applied to one or more elements).

    in addition...i'm moving this into the relevant section of the forums, as this has nought to do with usability or accessibility...

    I preferred the old centered version, tbh. The border with white background was very clean.

    glad you like it. followed the instructions but it was scrolling like mad in 800x600. Still don't know how to get the left position.

    When I changed the div attributes the layout went crazy...and I followed them to the letter.

    Looks like it's cause your content area has a minimum size + margins. I'm no CSS guru like Joel up here, but that's how I read it, just after a quick glance...

    duurrrrr! I cannot get it to do the effect!!!! I keep changing everything around and getting confused. I took out the minimum size attribut though.
    Would be eternally gratefull to anyone who can sort this one out step by step as I'm totally confusing myself
