    Opera still don't like me

    Hi all.... been validating my site, everything is right with it... loads great in IE, Netscape, Mozilla, but not Opera. What am I doing wrong?

    Also, the CSS validator did not like my hyperlinks opening in a blank page, so for it to validate I had to take them off. How can I make the hyperlinks open in a blank page and still get perfect strict validation?

    Also, had to take the font attribute off the '|' (in between the links at the top) I want them to be orange, the same as the links.

    Don't know how to put this in css-tried a few ways but keeps coming up as bad code.

    Heres the site n' code-

    http://www.redplanet.cwc.net

    body {
    margin : 0 auto;
    margin-top : -20px;
    padding-top : 0;
    margin-bottom : 17px;
    background-image : url(back2.jpg);
    background-repeat : repeat;
    background-position : 50% 50%;
    }
    .Content {
    margin : 55px 60px 15px 68px;
    padding-top : 2px;
    padding-left : 20px;
    padding-bottom : 5px;
    color : #000000;
    background-color : #fefefc;
    border : 1px solid #cccccc;
    }
    p {
    font-size : 11px;
    line-height : 18px;
    font-family : verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
    text-align : left;
    min-width : 500px;
    margin : 5px 0 14px;
    padding-right : 18px;
    width : 100%;
    voice-family : "\"}\"";
    voice-family : inherit;
    width : auto;
    }
    #Content > p {
    position : absolute;
    margin : 0;
    }
    #Content > p + p {
    position : absolute;
    text-indent : 30px;
    }

    }

    Thanks in advance

    I can't see what your problem is. They look the same in IE6 and Opera 7 for me.

    For the menu, just change the <h2> to <div id="menu"> like so:

    Code:
    #menu { color : #ff6600; }
    HTML Code:
    <div id="menu">
      <a href="index.htm">home</a> |
      <a href="about.htm">contact</a>
    </div>
    It isn't a header, so don't use a header tag. You could use a <ul> list, but that is getting on the silly side...

    In future, don't bother quoting so much code. Just a link to the html and a link to the css file are fine. If you want to put in code, use [code] or [html].

    hth,

    I can fix that for you pretty easy:

    HTML Code:
    .pipes {
      color: #ff6600;
    }
    ----------------
      <h2 class="pipes">
      <a href="index.htm">home</a> |
      <a href="about.htm">about</a> |
      <a href="music.htm">music</a> |
      <a href="links.htm">links</a> |
      <a href="contact.htm">contact</a>
      </h2>

    atrium33,

    The target attribute is no longer a part of xhtml if you are using strict. However, it's is still supported in transitional so I suggest you switch doctypes if your really intent on using. Otherwise, there are some javascript workarounds that you can use if your using xhtml strict. He are 2 ways:

    HTML Code:
    <p><a href="http://www.google.com/"
    onclick="window.open(this.href,'_blank'); return false;">
    Google</a></p>

    <p>
    <a href="http://www.google.com/"
    onclick="this.target='_blank';">Google</a>
    </p>
    Here's a much more involved method that, if done right, can do the job site-wide:

    Glad to here it! Very nice site by the way. I love the layout and colors.

    I play guitar myself, for nearly twenty years. Page, Hendrix influenced in my formative years. Lately I have gotten heavily into jazz and Wes Montgomery is now my favorite guitarist. That's a great link you have on him. Do you know of a place to get an album by him called "Wes Montgomery Plays the Blues" (absolutely amazing!).

    My bass player went and borrowed it 4 years ago and never returned it ... I have searched far and wide for a cd version. Got it in a bargain bin at Sam the Record Man on Younge Street in Toronto, have never seen it anywhere else.
