In case that carrot charactor didn't work out, the first part of the title should be: "wat ^ pplz?" loosely translated to "What's Up peoples?"

Anyway, I was just wondering about what everbody thinks about the obsession with spelling things wrong and using numbers instead of letters in order "4" us "2" sound cooler? save time?

Personally, I can't stand those people who write what should be a full paragraph, in about 15 characters. It's tough enough to decipher, why bother writing like that anyway? Another thing, Z is not the same as S!

    itisgoingtogettothepointwherewedontevenhitthespacebaranymorebecausewethinkweresavingtimewhenactuallywereannoyingthehelloutofwhoeverisgoingtoreadthemessage.

If you got through all that, either you're a freak, have too much time on your hands.. or are pretty annoyed right now :P

Be thankful I didn't write it using numbers instead of letters, and Z's instead of S's.

Once and a while it's not so bad, writing "k" as an IM response instead of "OK" is totally acceptable, it just gets out of hand when people write emails, websites or long messages managing to not correctly spell a single word.

tHaT kInD oF tHiNg BuGs Me MoRe ThAn PeOpLe WrItInG lIkE tHiS.

I don't have much more time to complain right now.. I'm just wondering what everyone else thinks of this. Is this just going to get worse? Can't someone stop the insanity?

    i h8 dAt stuf 2.

It drives me crazy sometimes. People at school write emails like that all the time. They don't save time doing that, it's harder on them to think through it.

When people do that, I think they are immature, although I have smart friends who do that.

Does anyone out there think that it's cool to see someone tIPe lIKe ThIs? Do you think people why type like it think to themselves "hehe...i think i'll start typing crazy so i'll look cool! that'll impress them!"? Sounds stupid alright, but I'm sure that's sort of what they are thinking of...

I use BTW and LOL a lot, but otherwise, I like complete sentences also.

    Check out

    http://www.pbbt.com/autotrans/ <-- check out elite.

I made it awhile ago but I gave up on it because I thought it was pretty lame.

If you are in a hurry, then shortcuts are useful. Why do you think cops use 10-4 instead of "Acknoledged"? Some ppl take it too far and abbreviate everything, but I think a little in informal conversation is OK.

I'll admit my site is on the extreme edge, though.

If you didn't notice, this post is the same as the one above. In this case, things like t are converted to 7 and i becomes y, I, or l. It makes it pretty hard to translate backwards, though. Some people really do write like this...

I absolutely hate it. Whats more is I worry that foreigners may either think all american's are stupid or that we all talk like this and then they pick it up too. (no comments about you already thinking we are stupid)

How hard is it to type out you instead of u? Seriously it takes the same .3 seconds either way. IMO its just another childish way to be "cool".

I don't like any of that at all... and I never, ever use it. The only abbreviations I ever use is lol (Laughing Out Loud and sometimes BRB (Be Right Back).

But, I never spell things wrong on purpose (make sense? lol) and I don't use a abbreviations. Someone said to me tonight "what u mean." I can't stand this! lol I mean... What happened to question marks?!?!?!? for gosh sakes, I hope this isn't what the world is coming to. lol (abbreviation)

Right now I'm really hoping people don't start talking like the 'hacker' style of writing:

    83c4uz3 7h47 w0u1d juz7 83 2 m3zz3d up.

    I don't even know if it's possible :P

I also use j/k (Just Kidding) and BTW (By the way).
But, another thing that gets me... why would you use abbreviations if they really aren't much/any shorter?

    Example:

^ and up (1 character difference)
u and you (2 character difference)
wat and what (1 character difference)
r and are (2 character difference)
ur and your (2 character difference)

I mean, it makes no sense to me.

Hackers don't talk like "th1z". Most people who talk like that are wannabee hackers, AOL users, and script kiddies who think they are 3llit3.

I've always liked the RAOTFLMAO stuff (rolling around on the floor laughing my *** off), the more of that the better. Sadly, the first time I went in chat rooms before I knew what it all meant, I tried to work it out myself and got as far as "LOL"? a-ha, must mean 'lots of love', before giving in and trying to find a glossary.
That letters for numbers malarky is pretty daft though.

ROTFL is a bit shorter. Although, I never use it. I just prefer LOL every time I laugh.

I find LOL so ...STUPID. I met a guy that i knew on irc who said LOL in "real life". That was just scary how is brain was attacked.

    I can't stand that stuff.
