Vertically aligning my div tabs and making them stick...

Problem # 1
4 divs inside one container div (the dotted line is the invisible borders in the container divs). How can I go from position 1A to position 1B where the divs inside are aligned at the bottom of the container div? Is there maybe some easier way to solve this? (see figure 1A - 1B)

Problem # 2
How can I prevent the left-floating divs from getting wrapped and moved to the next line when the screen size gets smaller? (the gray vertical lines represents the screen size) How do I make sure that the divs inside stay at the same line, although the container div is supposed to have a flexible with, say 98%? Is there maybe some easier way to solve this? (see figure 2A - 2B)

Ah, it seems as though NS6 spectacularly fails to do anything useful with the stylesheet yet again. I think that inline styles are ignored. Sorry
