    Standard RGB and Color Settings for Photoshop

    Hey all,
    Usually I am answering other people's questions, but I have come up on one of my own.

    I just did a HD Restore a couple of weeks ago and have had trouble getting Photoshop running again. I finally got it working yesterday, but when I opened a file the colors were off quite a bit. I fiddled with the RGB and Color Settings and it looks like I fixed it.

    However, I wanted to know if there is a standard that I need to set PS to so that I get true RGB colors? (I don't remember what my old settings were.)

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    BTW - The subject is supposed to say RGB, but I goofed and the forums won't let me change my own subject, only the content of my post.

    It all depends on what you use PS for, i.e. on screen or print.

    For on screen or Web Graphics Defaults, which is the default RGB setting for most PS users, the settings are:

    Working Spaces:
    RGB = sRGB IEC61996-2.1
    CMYK = U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
    Gray = Gray Gamma 2.2
    Spot = Dot Gain 20%

    Color Management Policies:
    Everything is OFF
    Profile Mismatches = True

    Conversion Options:
    Engine = Adobe (ACE)
    Intent = Relative Colorimetric
    Use Black Point Compensation = True
    Use Dither (8-bit/channel images) = True

    Advanced Controls:
    Everything is unchecked/false

    Usually for onscreen stuff you should use sRGB.

    Hey Metapixels,
    I'll give that a try when I get home (I'm on a different computer right now). I will let you know whether it works or not.

    Thank you so much!
