But how many Mac users are there? As far as I can discover, Apple has been pretty quiet since 1997, when it claimed an installed base of 21.8 million. Given the decline in Apple's sales since then, the trend of Mac users switching over to PCs, I would imagine somewhat less. It is estimated that Mac's account for about 5% of the world's computer market.

The last I heard was about 7%, but the Google Zeitgeist is showing only 3% Mac users.
