2 Column page with "floating" 3rd column

    Hello all,

I wish to make a tableless design that has:

    - 2 columns (left and centre)
    - left column is a fixed width
    - centre is fluid

    - 1 column (right)
    - This column will "float" on the page so that if someone scrolls down or up it is always visible.

This is kind of like a 3 column layout, which I have done before.

I have been trying to modify Douglas Livingstone's code from http://www.redmelon.net/tstme/3cols2/noborder.htm but I have had no luck (I'm kind of a newbie at css).

    Thanks
    D.

Ok. I read the info on the site Redhat_PHP suggested but it didn't help.

I need the right column visible all the time so that if someone scrolls down or up they can see it.

I've seen something like what you are looking for as a dhtml menu. I'm sure you could try to combine doug's layout with one of the "floating menus". (modifying the menu to suit your needs). Most of the dhtml script sites have them "floating around" . Since I'm at work, I don't have any links off hand other than dhtml central and dynamic drive. I've gotten them in the past from both those sites. Hope that was helpful.

    Thanks, firegryphon3207.
The real pain is that Mozilla on my machine does this when you set the position to fixed but IE doesn't.

IE/Windows doesn't support fixed positioning (IE/Mac does ). For a javascript workaround try this.

I escaped after replying the first time. It happens every now and again.

    Thanks, vgarcia.
I was trying some other javascript layer stuff at Dynamic Drive but then i saw your post. It fixes what I need to do.

    Thanks both
    D.
