    Question Help with Netscape 7 and CSS

    I am working on updating a site to use vb.net and CSS as much as possible. I am working on the basic page layout and have tried to use as much CSS as is possible to make it search engine friendly/optimized.

    The problem I am having is that the layout is slightly different in Netscape 7 than what it is in IE 6. Everything works as it should in IE, but the product navigation (just below the images in the middle of the page) are not clickable in Netscape, nor do the hover effects work.

    The url is http://www.custompackrigging.com/v2/default.aspx

    I would appreciate any suggestions to get this working. I am fairly new to CSS at this level, previously I have just used it for consistent fonts/style etc, but never for placement, so I'm not sure I have eveyrthing set up correctly.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Tim

    Hi,

    Netscape (& Mozilla) have taken offense at the relative positioning of the product navigation. Just change your top:90px to margin-top:90px instead.

    e.g.
    Code:
    td.ProductNavigation a{
     font-family: Verdana, Geneva, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
     color:#CCCCCC;
     font-size: 8pt;
     font-weight:bold;
     position: relative;
     display:block;
     left: 0px;
     margin-top:90px;
     width:auto;
     border:1px;
     border-style: solid;
     border-color:#666666;
     text-decoration: none;
     vertical-align: middle;
     text-align:center;
     padding:1px;
    }
    That should make it work ok.

    You also have a horizontal scrollbar which I'm sure you don't want . The reason is that you have 100% width in your picBar style but you have also added a 1px border which makes it wider than 100% causing the scrollbar to appear.

    If you take out the border definitions for picbar then
    the horizontal scrollbar will go away. (I don't see why you needed a black border anyway as the background is already black).

    Hope this helps.

    Paul

    Hi Paul, yes it definitely helped!

    Thank you for helping me find the other error as well. Was driving me nuts trying to figure out why I was getting the scroll bars. ()

    I will be working on the site again over the next few days. Hopefully I will be able to figure out the rest of it without having to bug anyone else for help. )

    Thanks again,

    Tim )
