The W3C CSS2 Standard doesn't place a restriction on the type of element which supports psuedo-classes.

    (See http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/select...pseudo-classes)

I'm not suprised that Mozilla supports this feature, while IE does not... (it's typical behaviour)

Thus: 'Yes',according to the standard, :hover will work on elements other than links

Yea, it's how CSS only drop-down menus work. :-)

Oddly, Opera had support for :hover on things other than links in v.7, I think, but seems to have dropped it in 7.2 for some reason. I guess, just remember to keep the page usable with out the hover effect (i.e. don't hide anything really important).
