Didn't really tell me anything I didn't know, which is probably also the case for the others of us who linger around this area of Sitepoint.

I guess Foolproofs most interesting point is about Abbey National, who have just rebranded and yet their website seems to be largely unchanged aside from the new logo. On the face of it their site www.abbey.com does seem to be poor on accessibility.

This is just my quick appraisal though - does anyone have any more insightful thoughts?

    Exclamation

Sorry for posting an article for beginners in accessibility.

I could not tell that all Sitepoint members are advanced, and the future members too....

Thanks, Webnauts! I wasn't aware of any of those 10 things, though I have done my best to make my own site as accessible as possible -- or more accurately, as accessible as I know how to make it at this point.

I didn't like that top ten list. Too much of a "scare tactic" tone in my opinion. I know that the DDA is coming down hard in the UK (moreso than similar laws in other countries), but I think accessibility should be something that designers want to do rather than something they're forced to do. Other than that, it was refreshing to see some real statistics on users with disabilities. I just wish they focused more on that and less on the litigious past surrounding Web accessibility.

    Threats or Facts?

Vinnie, I understand your point, but I remember some discussions here at Sitepoint and other communities, about convincing clients to pay accessibility, that threats(?) or facts like these have been often mentioned.
And I think, no matter how hard these point sound, sometimes they can be a good warning for web site developers not to fall in a trap.
    Don't you think?

I can agree with that line of thought I guess.

It is a shame that, either they are going with a totalitarianism approach, or that it has come down to that; so those with disabilities can have comparable access.

I just thought it was interesting that an article on accessibility was written in font size -87.
