Focus group for web site review?
Hello,
I was wondering if there was a service out there that provided a focus group with people who use different browsers and have different levels of internet savvy who will test your new site for usability? I know there is the review area of SitePoint, but from the reviews I have read, there is not a focus on cross-browser usability.
Any ideas?
Thank you,
ChrisChris S.

Hummm. There's BrowserCam that might be useful to an extent; combined with info from the WR forums, I think you'd be able to get a fairly decent overview. :-)
Outside of that, I would assume that any usability shop could handle something like that, but it'd cost. A somewhat cheaper alternative might be to grab some bystanders and do the testing yourself at a community collage or library, but then again it might not offer the cross browser and cross platform options you need.

get an old computer and install old versions of browsers, and have new versions of browsers on your good system. use that for basic usability testing. and if you think the client needs more indepth testing, get 10-20 of the target market to participate in usability tests - but make sure you charge the client enough to make it worthwhile (meaning a lot)
