    Question Internet Explorer TaskBar Icon

    Hi all;

    I have used the following tag..

    Code:
    <LINK REL="SHORTCUT ICON" HREF="/path/to/myIcon.ico">
    which is great for when users bookmark our Website, they can see our icon.

    But how about when users open a particular section of our website, how can an icon replace the Internet Explorer icon in the TaskBar?

    Any thoughts?
    Thanks
    Rich

    Hi

    Place a copy of your icon in the root folder of the site, call it 'favicon.ico' and IE should do the rest.

    I've found it to be a little temprimental, somtimes I see it sometimes I don't - perhaps someone else can shed some light onto this?

    M$ Explorer has many documented bugs regarding the favicon.

    So I presume it only works for adding to favourites, and not replacing the IE icon in taskbar itself?

    That should do both, but as I metioned my experiences of it show it to be a little sporadic to say the least.

    if you put the favicon.ico file in your root folder and post the URL I'll take a look and see if it shows up here.

    Internet Explorer doesn't really know what it's doing in that regard, lol. Sometimes it will show it, sometimes it won't.

    It's on an Intranet

    I'll have a look, "good ol' Internet Explorer".

    Is there any javascript that can possibly keep the icon there?
