Talking sitepointforums vs webhostingtalk ?

I have only known sitepoint for a few weeks and it seems that sitepoint is more fun with awards, member of the month, vote on topics, etc. and surprisingly its member of the month isn't someone who's been here for years ....thank you for this wonderful site and I'm sure I'll be here more often from now.

Love from 1AsianChic

Off Topic:

Moved to the Feedback forum. Hope you don't mind, 1AsianChic, but I'm sure the higher-ups would appreciate the positive comments

Indeed...thanks for the nice feedback...and not to sound cheesy or anything: but it's really all the great members, like you, that make spf such a great place!

Also, SPF is a totally different animal than WHT. While they share some common topics, they really are pretty different.

Well I've been around SPF way too long and I've been around WHT almost as long (well somewhat...) and I like SPF too. Might be the mod powers gone to my head though.

Well I've been here at SPF for a bit over a year, but I've never even browsed WebHostingTalk. I've never felt the need to, SPF has had all I ever looked for

You wouldn't really need to visit WebHostingTalk unless you're involved in the hosting industry in some way. It's mostly people who run hosting companies there as the regulars, and people seeking hosting (mostly free hosting) that visit. SPF is more oriented to web developers.

Those are very nice comments about this site. A lot of work has been put into the community here to make it an actual community where the people are cared about and looked after. I am sure the staff appreciate seeing comments like this since it is a good affirmation of all the time and energy they put into keeping this place running.

I think most people are refering to the community atmosphere, but no, the content isn't directly related - however both forums overlap into topics like programing/hosting.

SPF is the greatest. While being professional, it's quite loose too which makes it a lot more enjoyable. Nobody wants to go to a site where you can't tell a joke.

Oh, and Platinum... the last T and beginig S dont' quite line up to make the word there

I think the topic nothing has to do with your post Asianchick... though it is great you stay here. I'm sure you will find your place and meet some nice people here.

On-Topic:
Personally I dont think you can compare these 2 forums, because WHT is based on hosting, and SPF more on development and promotion. So WHT learns you how to set up a host, then go to SPF to learn how to build and maintain a site!

True, if people post appreciations etc about your website or forums... it feels like you're a god sometimes.

Well, as Wayne said, it shows that the effort we put in to making this place friendly and approachable is appreciated.

what i'm trying to compare is the community atmospheres ...(not the forums itself) ....generally speaking i must admit this is a better than community than WHT because it has more topics/forums that interest me than WHT......I wish i knew this forums earlier but i'm glad i know it now ...
thanks for this great community ...i really love it so far

Hey there 1AsianChic

Really glad you like our little community - your (new) little community

Although the topics covered are a little different, even if they overlap, this place defiantly has the edge over WHT. Just in terms of atmosphere and community sprit - thats definatly a reflection of the hard work the staff and also the members put into making this place what it is.

Yes I agree...webhostingtalk can be good if you are looking for a host, but otherwise sitepoint is the place to be!
