Hearing the comments on phpPatterns. In the nearish future, will be working on an overhaul of the site. Will have a chat with SP to see if there's something we can do together.

I think it would be a great learning opportunity if a project was started for people in this forum to work on. Of course you know a lot of people have limited time, and have other things to spend their free time on.
But it would sure be cool to get a glimpse into the thought processes of some of the gurus while they're developing an app.
I'd probably be willing to contribute some code. Although I'm not in the same league with most of the regulars in this forum, I could probably write _some_ stuff that would be useful.

Hello there HarryF, I was kind of hoping you were looking over this thread ?

Please do not assume that from my earlier comments I expect yourself to do all the work and to make all the effort aye ?

Like Coo_t2 suggests and a few others, we can all contribute something, doesn't matter what or by what quantity, just something really.

Site Point as a web site and as a Forum is pretty popular and well known so I was thinking that Kevin and Matt could maybe throw some weight behind what transpires yes ?

They're bound to have a few contacts that could lend a hand...

Maybe if they throw enough bones so to speak... Some one will bite eh ?

Jason, that is exactly what I am looking for. The problem is finding some gurus who are willing to do it. I'm up for helping where I can, but correct design is still something I am trying to reach.

Anyway, that's that... any comments, questions, crtiscisms welcomed.
Have you looked at the Observer Pattern which could be useful in this case ?

    http://patterndigest.com/patterns/Observer.html

Fits like a glove no ?

    Nearly...

There's only a slight difference to my implementation. But in essence I guess what I have is an Observer Pattern... "Observer Pattern" sounds pretty cool aswell

    Thanks for the link Dr.

    Looking at this link...

    http://java.sun.com/blueprints/guide...web-tier5.html

And then seeing this further down the page...

    PHP Code:
    <screen-definitions>
      <
    template>/template.jsp</template>
      <
    screen>
        <
    screen-name>main</screen-name>
          <
parameter key="title">Welcome to the BluePrints Petstore</parameter>

          <
    parameter key="banner" value="/banner.jsp"/>
          <
    parameter key="sidebar" value="/sidebar.jsp"/>
          <
    parameter key="body" value="/main.jsp"/>
          <
    parameter key="mylist" value="/mylist.jsp"/>
          <
    parameter key="advicebanner" value="/advice_banner.jsp"/>
          <
    parameter key="footer" value="/footer.jsp"/>
           </
    screen>
          <!-- ...
    more screen definitions... -->
    </
    screen-definitions
An idea has arrived yes ? What if based on a class choosen by an action had the above more or less what you are required for an action in the class yes ?

Then wouldn't it be a case of relating this to somewhere to deal with the business of each page element ?

The View of course picks up on this as well, ie in your example, if a user has logged in or not ?

What I'm looking at just now is the Composite View...

    Comments please

    Wow. Cool.
I'd imagine it will cover a bunch of stuff that's talked about in this forum?

That would be a PHP book worth buying.

No mention of the exact content from the newletter I got yersterday although I'm imagine that there may be some discussion about Design Patterns and maybe with any luck more of a follow up of Harry's PHP5 article yes ?

Just need to wait and see I suppose aye ? Maybe Site Point will release some sample chapters towards the end of the year ?

Or better yet, have Harry give some description of the content yes ? Harry ?
