    Question How to Reformat?

Ok...we've all had to do it at one time or another. I just wanted to see what everyone thinks about reformatting usuing different operating systems etc. I'm about to reformat my IBM for the first time, and I'm not sure how to do it, because it runs Windows 2000 Proffesional. Plus, I've only ever watched the process and not actually done it. So I figured I'd post this here and collect all the good information that comes from all you great designers and developers. I'll then formulate a tutorial and spread it around the web. A master guide of sorts...unless of course...someone knows where one already is and would like to disclose that bit of information to me...

Use Google, there's plenty of information around.

If you're using Win 2K you don't have the option of FAT32 and can't therefore use a standard boot floppy disk. But you can set your BIOS to boot from CD and use the Windows 2000 CD to format your hard disk to the preferred ntfs.

I haven't reformatted for years. Well, I've bought new hard drives regularly, and of course they need formatting before they can be used, but other than that, I just copy the contents across to the new drive.

I assume you're talking about not only reformatting, but also reinstalling everything (as opposed to copying everything back as it was).

Just put the cd in, and reboot

Of course, you might have to tell your bios to boot from the cd, and maybe even make a boot disk, if your bios is old.

I've formatted 3 times in the last month.
