    bootable usb key

    Hi,
I have successfully created a bootable usb memory stick which boots a pc to a dos prompt using a windows 98 startup disk. What I know wish to do is get the the usb device to boot the machine and load network net work drivers to enable me to get on a network. I have boot floopies which do this. I copied accross the files to the usb key and attempted to edit the files so i could use the usb key as i would use the floopy but it has not worked. Does anyone have any ideas.

Try looking through your BIOS Settings for the option "Boot from USB" and check that it's Enabled.

Also change the Device Boot Order to make sure it attempts to boot from the USB drive before the hard drive, floppy, etc.

I was thinking of making a small toolkit for a CUG (computer users group) I started on one of these or a cd, but I don't really have the time, and KNOPPIX and/or PHLAK should be good enough.
