    Expanding CSS navbar

This is probably going to sound rather generic in nature, but would anyone be able to point me in the direction of a tutorial that outlines making one of those navbars where mousing over a particular area creates a box, typically below the initially link, that has other links? The generated box is either HTML code, or whatever, or a picture -- I believe. This created box floats on top of the webpage. It doesn't expand the area inwhich it is being created.

I'm not real sure how well that explained my question, so here's a picture:

I'm not even real sure if this can be accomplished with CSS, but thought it might be worth asking.

If it indeed cannot be created with CSS might someone still provide a place where I could learn how to do so?

Well, that kinda worked, but not really.

It's a great thing they've made, and it's probably just my own ignorance, but I can't mesh the abilities of that menu system with my current navbar.
