    try

    Code:
    mysql -uMYNAME -p
no space between -u and username.

if that doesnt work, also make sure you have the right casing. password is not the same as Password

if that doesn't work, and you use cPanel to make accounts, your login should be account_username

hm, I have always used a space between -u and the username, and it works fine.

If you have just setup your installation though and you did not set your password with quotes around it, then it won't work. I did this the other day and had to reinstall MySQL and set the password with double quotes to be able to login.

If it's not that I can't help (that was my only piece of MySQL administration knowledge )
