    newbie question!

I'm so sorry for this newbie question, nevertheless here goes...

I want a nav bar to sit on the left of my site, which when you click on a button/link expands the menu, to show sub-options.

I'm sure Javascript is the way to go with this, but not having coded anything client side, I'm not sure where to start. Perhaps I can download something from a scripts website, and hack and play with it.

Also do you think its an issue doing a nav bar in javascript - just in case a user has for whatever reason turned off javascript processing?

any help/pointers would be gratefully received

http://dhtmlkitchen.com/index.jsp offers, and implements, such a script.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

The script, demos, and the download are available in the AnimTree part of the Script section:

If you look at the pricing page, you’ll notice that you can get up to a 100% discount for non-commercial use of the script. If this doesn’t suit you, you can try looking on HotScripts for another solution.
Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

I have found that AllWebMenu is really nice. It's completly GUI. I use the Pro, which is a small reg fee, but the lite is good too and is free, I think. Check out: http://www.likno.com

Or you can always create one in fireworks.

As for using javascript, most of your users will be fine with a javascript navbar. But one thing I always do is to put text links at the bottom of the pages, or at least a sitemap text link.

I'd like to use this as a exercise to to learn/relearn javascript. What I've currently in mind is a side bar menu which expands/contracts the height of the menu and shows the associated sub options, if you catch my drift.

if it helps the site I'm working on is:http://www.limerickatl.com ... bear in mind there's alot of work to do with it yet
