    Viewing localhost files

Hi, I just installed PHP, MySQL and Apache web server. http://localhost works great, but I want to show my friend (online) my files in http://localhost. How would I do this exactly?
He told me I had to find out my I address at http://www.whatismyip.com and use http://"ipaddress" and forward port 80 and I have done that but no success. Please help? Thanks!

Well, if you're behind a firewall, then your friend is right -- you will have to forward port 80. What kind of router or firewall are you using?

here are some things you prolly already did, but just to clarify

**you forwarded port 80 on the router to the correct "internal IP", the IP given to you by your router (or if you set your own IP manuallY)

**you configured Apache to use port 80 for it's default port.

**depending on the complexity of your network, whatismyip.com may or may not give your your correct IP (though for nearly all residential zoned housing, it will be correct ).

**your ISP MUST allow this port to be used, otherwise, whether or not you forward the port correctly, it will block all traffic using that port.
    There's no place like 127.0.0.1
