Talking Let's All Listen to Mattias!

    Hello,

Yep... I guess that's also why unnecessary mixed case is difficult to read. I hate it when everything is in caps... I hate weird fonts too.

I don't agree with the study on the point that the order of the letters between the first and the last doesn't matter, though.

If I change the long letters, like l, t, g, i, d etc, it can change the shape of the word. Like this:

sitopeint <- Pretty readable, as it's the same shape as sitepoint

    steioipnt <- WTF?
sitepoint <- Look at the shape of the original.

actually that is cool and amazing - I actually read that paragraph fairly fast, not as fast as normal, but fast nontheless.

    Awesome.

It's actually because your mind processes familiar GROUPS ( @ M) of letters.

So, for some people if you totally mangle the letters it doesn't work. For others they can recognize a wider range of groups. Just one of those truly soft language skills.

Studies show that people who can pick out groups of letters better are often better at math and, funnily enough, worse at languages *L*

How ironic. I read the jumbled text almost fluently (one word made me lookt wice), yet I couldn't learn French for the life of me :| Spanish though, yo hablo un poco.

[edit] Oh, and I'm an A student in math...

Same here- but for me growing up speaking pidgin french did not take well, and I can't remember much of my 2 years of HS french (except for simple stuff like Elle es une vache), but the one year of latin I took lasted awhile.

Living in the south you learn some of the essentials in spanish or spanglish that are needed to survive:
