    Hello,
I am creating a directory of message boards. Is there a program that would make it easier for me to create and manage this directory, or should I do it by hand?? You can see an example of what the directory will be like by going to http://www.madtvcentral.com/talk and clicking on Arts & Entertainment on the left and then clicking on Actors &Actresses.

Do you think I should do this by hand or is there a program that can make it easier for me??

    Thanks!!
    -Nick

Check out Links 2.0 by http://www.gossamer-threads.com/ it is $150 US, byt well worth it.

I use it for my site. It is awesome everthing is created vie cgi scripts. There are approx. 20 templates and everything is created with these.

Here are some PHP-based Link Indexing Scripts from HotScripts.com:

    http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Script...Link_Indexing/

And from the PHP Resource Index:

    http://php.resourceindex.com/Complet...s_and_Portals/

I havn't used much else other than Links 2.0 from Gossamer Threads, but in terms of free scripts, I hear "phpLinks" and "phpHoo" are both quite good.

I can't really offer any more advice than I offered above.

Are you planning to utilize a lot of links in the future? You can use a flat-file (CGI) up until about a 1.5 mb size then it becomes slow to search, load etc.

You would then have to utilize something more industrial strengh like MySQL.

Have you taken a look at the Links 2.0 script, yet? It is literally the best thing I have done for my website. I can pretty much control my whole website from the admin interface.

I can change my templates, add sites, delete, modify, send emails to my newsletter etc. You can modify the script any way to look like your site and there is tons of help available at their forums.

I sound like a salesman, but really I think it is the best around.
