What would be the best way to setup something similar to the big image of the girl you see? I would guess this is done with tables, but wanted to see if anyone knew how to do this ..

I'd suggest using a static background (watermark) to the page, but that is only going to work for IE4+ and NS6.

No tables, that's so last century!
Actually, it's easy: just a background image and carefull positioning of the other elements. All can be done with CSS and transparent PNGs (which just needs a proprietary hack for IE).
